Library Director for LTH Library

Workplace Description
The Department of Quality Support is part of LTH's administration.
The department's main areas are: quality assurance, management of educational administrative systems, doctoral education administration, and libraries.
Within the department, quality coordinators, system administrators, educational coordinators responsible for system support, doctoral education coordinators, and librarians work. We are a small department with close collaboration within the department and with other departments within LTH's administration. We support LTH's management and organization within the department's areas of expertise.
The LTH Library is a unit within the department and currently has five employees. The unit is tasked with supporting the faculty's students, teachers, and researchers, as well as the general public regarding access to information and information literacy. Our subject areas include technical subjects as well as architecture and design, and the library's main work areas are media and teaching. The LTH Library is a workplace undergoing change with a focus on creating the library of the future.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility
The Library Director, also the unit manager, is responsible for proactively and in close dialogue with management and operational representatives working with LTH's strategic and operational development in the library area.
As Library Director, you will lead the work at the library unit and have budget, personnel, and work environment responsibility for the unit's employees. E-media is part of the unit's budget. You are expected to lead and develop both the group and its individuals by engaging and creating participation, so that together you meet the needs of the operation.
The Library Director reports to the head of the Quality Support department and is part of various networks at Lund University, collaborating with both LTH's institutions and Lund University's common functions and other faculties.
You may also, within the framework of the position, work operationally as a librarian, for example, serving at the information and lending desk, working with media and periodicals, reading and writing support, and teaching.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who can take on the role of manager and leader and who, through your leadership, can develop the unit. You have a good ability to listen, utilize employees' competencies, and create participation and security in a group.
You have a good understanding of and knowledge about library operations and the library's role in education and research. As a person, you have good collaboration skills and a professional approach to work and colleagues. It is important that you are meticulous and have flexibility and the ability to solve the needs that arise.
Requirements for employment are:
- Academic degree in library and information science or equivalent
- Experience in library operations in the university and higher education sector
- Experience in driving and developing work, routines, and processes
- Good administrative skills and experience in administrative work within the higher education sector or public sector
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing.
We are looking for someone with good collaboration skills, who is clear and structured.
Desirable qualifications for employment are:
- Management experience from library operations
- Leadership training
- Experience in managing library operations in the university and higher education sector
- Experience in working with e-media
- Experience in working with reading and writing support
- Experience in teaching within library operations.
Consideration will be given to how the applicant is assessed to complement and strengthen the work within LTH's library through their experience and competence and contribute to its future development.

Interviews are planned to be held during March. Desired start date is May 2026 or by agreement.
